Christmas
Christmas, only 8 days away and I feel like I am 6. I have not been this excited for Christmas since then. I am so excited since this is Jackie's first Christmas, I am excited about all the traditions we are starting, all the things I want her to look back at 28 years from now and have great memories of Christmas.
All the little things that I am excited about:
* Jackie getting her first gift from Santa
* Adam and I getting to be Santa, even though her Santa gift this year is already under the tree (she is just too young to be able to read or pay attention to shapes and types of wrapping paper), but in later years it is us putting a gift under the tree after she has gone to bed.
* The food! I have so many fond memories of my Mom's Christmas baking, especially things that were made exclusively for Christmas.
* Christmas morning! The Christmas tradition I grew up with was opening our gifts Christmas eve, but we are going to go with the Christmas morning tradition. To much of Adam's sister's discontent, we have not yet done a Christmas morning gift opening, it is hard to wake up early when there are no kids, but we are starting this year.
* Family! I grew up far away from most of my parents family, I look forward to each year as we are all able to get together, and Jackie has lots of aunts and uncles, grandparents and close family friends close by.
Before I was a Mom
I never tripped over toys or forgot words to a lullaby.
I didn't worry whether or not my plants were poisonous.
I never thought about immunizations.
Before I was a Mom
I had never been puked on.
Pooped on.
Chewed on.
Peed on.
I had complete control of my mind and my thoughts.
I slept all night.
Before I was a Mom
I never held down a screaming child so doctors could do tests.
Or give shots.
I never looked into teary eyes and cried.
I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin.
I never sat up late hours at night watching a baby sleep.
Before I was a Mom
I never held a sleeping baby just because I didn't want to put him down.
I never felt my heart break into a million pieces when I couldn't stop the hurt.
I never knew that something so small could affect my life so much.
I never knew that I could love someone so much.
I never knew I would love being a Mom.
Before I was a Mom
I didn't know the feeling of having my heart outside my body.
I didn't know how special it could feel to feed a hungry baby.
I didn't know that bond between a mother and her child.
I didn't know that something so small could make me feel so important and happy.
Before I was a Mom
I had never gotten up in the middle of the night every 10 minutes to make sure all was okay.
I had never known the warmth, the joy, the love, the heartache, the wonderment or the satisfaction of being a Mom.
I didn't know I was capable of feeling so much, before I was a Mom.
Editing to add:
Before I was a Mom
I never would have cried every time I read this!
A Jackie update
She got her third tooth on December 6th - almost 4 months after her 2nd came in.
She is sooooo close to crawling, but the latest change happened yesterday (December 16th), she pulled herself up to a standing position. Below are a few photos I got after she pulled herself to standing with the stool.
A new place to explore

Christmas Tree
Jackie loves the Christmas tree. Okay, she loves the ornaments.
I sit her under the tree and she loves to reach up and pull an ornament off to play with. (Don’t worry, I got safe ornament hooks – plastic, not metal with poky ends.)
Since a few ornaments have some sparkles, that sometimes means a sparkley baby.
I can move backwards
Stockings Hung with Care...
But this year I wanted to start hanging them in our house, even though Christmas morning will not be done here.
Any guesses which one is Brutis'? Jackie's is the blue one.

Coffee Anyone?
The Two Tooth Monster
Humping
Best Friends Forever!
We had no idea how Brutis would first react to Jackie when we brought her home, but he was okay with her. Having Jackie meant he got to spend all day with Mom and be out of his kennel, so why would you not love her?
But we have been very careful with the two of them, we never leave Jackie on the floor alone, should Brutis decide suddenly he does not really like her, (that and the humping he likes to practice on her).
But Jackie and Brutis get along GREAT! If Jackie is on the floor, he has to be there with her, usually he grabs a toy of bone, but he has to be by her side. But recently that means whatever Brutis has, Jackie wants.
The next 4 photos were snapped in sequence, I just love how docile Brutis is with her and lets her get away with steeling a toy or even his new favourite bone.

Update - The Pampered Chef
To assist new consultants in attaining more product, PC has set some goals for the first 3 months as a consultant – for every 4 shows I do in the first 3 months, I earn $100 PC money, also for every $5000 in sales, I earn another $100 PC money. So, my 3 months are up at the end of November, my goals are to do 12 shows and reach $10 000 in sales. It is going to be a busy month!
I am really enjoying the distraction this provides for me. I am not sure if other stay at home Moms have found it as difficult as I have, but I have really missed working (I know, I know – crazy), but I miss the people, maybe I miss a bit of what life was like before, being able to go out for lunch – where ever I wanted, being out of the house for longer than the 30 minutes it takes to run to the store. But now doing The Pampered Chef has given me some focus (on something other than diaper changing). I enjoy planning and testing the recipes (not always a good thing for Adam), and I really enjoy the parties, I have already gotten to meet some great new people, with many more to come.
Check out my personal Pampered Chef website: www.pamperedchef.biz/jennyhill if you are interested in booking a party or just placing an order, you can contact me through there or leave me a message here.

The Park
This past week we had another first – the park! We definitely have a winner with the swing – okay – that is really all she has done – but before I know it she will be running up the stairs and throwing herself down the slide. These pictures were taken while on a play date with Ace, Scarlett and Starr – but we happen to have a park right across the street from our house where we have already visited a few times.

The Countdown
I know some of you might think I am crazy, but I love Christmas! It seems that as soon as it gets hot in the summer, I start thinking and dreaming about Christmas.
I love the parties, getting together with friends. I love the food, Egg Nog! I love spending time with my families. I love shopping for the perfect gift. Every year I promise myself I am going to get my shopping done early and never set food in a mall in December - but every year I break my promise... maybe this year.
This year everything about Christmas is different. We finally get to stand in line at the mall for the infamous photo with Santa. This year Christmas is not about the adults any more. This year we start new traditions.
