Breakfast

Our new favorite thing for breakfast is a smoothie. 1 cup of frozen fruit, 1 cup of vanilla or plain yogurt and one ripe banana - throw it all in a blender and serve. Serves 2.

Adam and I are enjoying taking them with us as we drive to work, so I upped the yogurt and frozen fruit to 1 1/2 cups each - this will make 2 smoothies in travel coffee mugs.

Fruit - so far we have done blueberry and strawberry - raspberry is on the agenda for later this week.

Checking in at 34 weeks

Only 6 more weeks to go - well that is if we go full term. I am still convinced that I will go long, but I have had the prediction that I am going to go 3 weeks early - ahhhh - that is scary - it means I only have 3 more weeks to go! I better hurry up and start nesting.

Well, things seem to be going well - I feel good, now not as good as I felt a month back, but still I feel pretty good. The weight gain has been good but I am definitely all belly. The baby has been moving a lot, big huge movements where it looks like my belly is a bowl of Jell-o being shaken. We are looking forward to meeting this little one that seems to think kicking Mom is a great new sport and keeping her awake at 3:00 in the morning is standard protocol. (I am however enjoying the fact that no matter how much the baby keeps me awake - it is still quiet - no crying... yet.)

Finally - The Crib!

Finally we received the missing screws to set up the crib, so Saturday morning Adam went to work on the assembly job. It looks great, but so far that is all we have – mattress still to come.

Saturday afternoon we had the La-Z-Boy delivered. Although not shown in the picture, it does recline so you can lay almost flat, we also had a swivel put in.

Things are starting to come together, now it is all the little things we are working on – like decorating the nursery.

The Stroller

This weekend we made another big purchase essential to having a baby. The car seat and stroller. We purchased The Graco Quattro Tour; this comes with the stroller, car seat and base unit for the car seat to clip into.

When we brought it home we decided to set it up right away, for a few reasons. First, we plan on getting the car seat into the Blazer pretty soon – since this is the only way we will get the baby home from the hospital and the last thing I want is the baby to come early and have Adam out in the hospital parking lot trying to figure out how the car seat works. Second, we wanted Brutis to get used to it. He tends to bark at new pieces of furniture when they are first brought in (especially ones that move), so we figured this would be a nice time to get him used to all the baby equipment before the baby arrives.

The Stroller with the Car Seat

Brutis seems to be okay with the stroller, we have taken him on a few rides around the house.

Our Pampered Chef Lady

Micheline Millar (http://www.pamperedchef.biz/gocanadago) is our Pampered Chef lady. I have been to at least 7 PC parties put on by her at many different friends houses, she also did my bridal shower party.

Saturday evening I attended a party hosted by Karen (my sister-in law) and snapped a few shots.

The First Piece Goes Up

Last weekend Adam and I hit Ikea looking for a dresser for the nursery. We found one that is a very close match in color to our crib (the crib was not bought at Ikea) and this weekend Adam assembled it. Adam with his Masterpiece.

The Dresser with a baby blanket made by one of the soon to be Grandmas - Adam's Mom.

Crib Update - we have the missing hardware being couriered from the manufacturer, should be in Calgary on Monday, therefore the crib will be assembled next weekend.

Tupperware Party!

Friday night I hosted a Tupperware Party. The month of January had huge specials and if I had a $1000.00 party and had 2 bookings from my party, I was eligible to receive a Pantry Makeover Set valued at $750 for only $50 - plus still able to get a percentage of all the sales towards free Tupperware. I hit the goal and it looks like I am going to have one organized pantry.
It was fun having friends and family hang out, everyone had a great time.

Adam in Houston

Adam just got home from a week long trip to Houston. He was down there taking a course put on by Wood Group - Wellhead School.

He did very well - he came out with a 92%, placing 7th in a class of 14. Considering he was down there with some seasoned service hands - he did very well! We are super proud.

Here are a few pictures he managed to get.

Downtown Houston - taken while Adam was driving - notice the great weather!

Assembling the Crib - Part 1

We are 8 weeks out - time to assemble the crib. We have had it for a little while now, but due to the bedroom being needed for Christmas house guest we had to wait, so Sunday was Adam's day.

Everything started out great, we quickly cleared the bedroom, hauled everything downstairs (in doing this we discovered that our basement will ONLY fit a double box spring - that is what we were moving - but hmmm - no queen?) The crib pieces traveled quite nicely up the stairs and Adam started but laying out everything - checking it off with the instructions (yes, he is an assemble with instructions kind of guy!)

Well that is where things fell apart, we are missing some screws, not just one either, we need 8 of one type and they are all missing, but they have us 7 extra of a different type...

After calling the store we bought the crib at and discovering there was nothing they could do until Monday, that was almost the end of our crib assembly experience for the day.
But Adam wanted to see if we could get the screws at Home Depot - so we tried, and I think we could have, but we did not know the specifics for the thread.

We have now been able to get the manufacturer to FedEx the missing screws to the store (after much sweet talking on my part), hopefully they will arrive on Friday and part 2 can commence on Saturday.

Adam - note the smile - the missing screws have not been discovered yet.

The Fat Off - Week 2

Okay - we have completed week 2, unfortunately, things did not go as well this week as they did the week before. This is partly my fault though, the weigh in was not done at the start of the day - it was done mid afternoon after I took Adam out for a Cheesecake date.
In my defence though, I know my husband and I know he needs to still eat his sugar - okay, okay Cheesecake Cafe might have been a bit over the top, but I thought he was being better than he actually was.

Adam - Week 2

Jenny - Week 2

So this week Adam is in Houston attending Wellhead School at our Houston Location. We will see how well he does, but to be honest I think he is going to have a tough time, I spoke with him last night, at the hotel he is staying at, each night he gets 3 complimentary drinks (as long as he orders before 7:00pm) the lounge has free popcorn, nachos and salsa all the time. Oh and complimentary full breakfast - which I can only assume is buffet - we all know how easily bacon jumps on to plates when you are going through the buffet line.

Scarred For Life

This past Friday evening Adam and I had Baby Classes, so we enlisted our friends Shane and Brenda to dog sit Brutis. He got a chance to hang out with their Dog Roxie, run and play.

Little did we know he was going to be violated while there; Brutis had gotten his toe nails painted!!

This was discovered Sunday afternoon - no wonder he was acting so funny?! The story on this goes a ways back. Adam and I have dog sat Roxie many times, she has short hair and has beautiful long toe nails. I have threatened in the past to paint her nails while we were dog sitting - but never did. Well, Shane and Brenda must have figured Brutis was in need of some femininity...

The picture is a little hard to see - but Brutis' pedicure gave him a sparkly burgundy polish.

31 Weeks

I am at 31 weeks - actually 31-1/2 - but who is counting? So 8-1/2 weeks left to go...

I feel great! (I know not very many pregnant women can say that so my deepest apologies to those that have difficult pregnancies.)

Status:
Movement: Lots - for the most part it has been pretty good, but there have been a few times when I feel like the baby is learning a new dance move and sometimes that happens to be right where my bladder is...

Stretch Marks: none so far (knock on wood) I think I need to start buying stocks in lotion companies.

Size: Sometimes I feel huge, and other times I forget I am pregnant (but a walk in front of a mirror or picking up a dropped pen is a very quick reminder).

Doctor's Report: I visited the Doctor today - heart rate is good, my blood pressure is fine, everything is good. (I have the most boring Doctor's visits ever - which we are so thankful for.)

Adam: Adam is doing well with the idea of impending parenthood - okay - he can't wait!

Baby Classes: We kick off our baby classes this weekend - our first is a 2 part class - Friday evening and all day Saturday - this is the big one - the others I have us signed up for are a breastfeeding class and a budgeting for baby class - helps you get all the paperwork you need to do once the baby arrives.

The Nursery: so far the nursery is not set up yet, but this Sunday we will be setting up the crib, we also bought a La-Z-Boy rocker recliner for the room - that should arrive in a week or two, then the next thing on the list is a dresser - we are planning on putting a change pad on top of the dresser.

As a whole though - things have been pretty good, but I have been warned, this is where it gets harder and I just continue to get bigger.

Jenny - at 31 weeks!

A Little Treat

The other night I got a chance to go over to Starr's house and get a pedicure. What a treat. A contact of Starr's came to her house and three of us got a little pampering. It came at a great time for me - I had been trying to figure out just how long it would take me to do this myself.

Poker Night

Saturday night we spent some time over at our friends Cam and Tara's house playing a bit of poker - Adam is happy to report that he won! As we were waiting for a few more to arrive, Adam took the opportunity to teach their 6 year old son Brendan how to play Go Fish - I think Brendan won...

The Fat Off - Week One

Okay - we have completed one week, well Adam has completed one week - I am still on my nice steady incline.

Bound and determined to loose weight, Adam has been very diligent about going to the gym - even when he is sore and really just wants to veg on the couch. So here is the scale picture for one week.

The Bet - A.K.A. - THE FAT OFF!

Okay – Adam is ready – Christmas has passed in a whirlwind of chocolate, drinks and treats. He is now ready to start with our bet and may the best man or woman win!

The Before Picture:
So we started off with a weigh in: Adam: 212.5 pounds, Jenny: 146 – this is only at 30 weeks – so 10 more weeks of weight gain still to go.
Here are the pictures to verify neither one is lying.

ADAM

JENNY

Adam joined the gym Tuesday night – at first he was just going to go and join – but the scale motivated him to actually work out the first night as well - so far today is night 3 in a row.

We will keep you updated as the fat off continues.

New Year's Eve 2006

Happy New Year!

For New Year's this year we headed back to Canmore! New Year’s Eve day, Adam, Kristi, Diana and Eric headed to Lake Louise to get in a day of skiing – I had other plans.

Diana, Eric and Kristi - on the chair lift.

All four in the chair lift - waving

While everyone hit the hill, I took a nap with the dog, went shopping downtown, had lunch in a coffee shop and then did dinner prep for Diana’s birthday dinner. A tradition I started a few years back – I (usually along with Adam’s help) cook a full dinner for Diana on her birthday – conveniently it is on the 1st – so always a holiday.

The menu:

Roast leg of lamb, oven roast potatoes, salad and Chocolate Raspberry Ganache Cake.

The cake was a rather large task - so I documented a bit of the assembly:

Finally finished!

The table - set and ready to go.

Oz and Grandma

The birthday girl... about to blow out her candles.
We had a wonderful time - unfortunately none of us made it to midnight - I was not even planning on trying (with me normally going to bed at 9:00 - I knew it would be a lost cause). Diana has great birthday - and we had blast celebrating with her.

Christmas 2006 - Part 2

Christmas part 2 for us was the Nadeau side of our Christmas. This year we hosted it. The day was a bit of a whirl wind - everything started at 4:00 (due to work schedules we had a limited time to do everything), so gifts happened as soon as everyone had arrived - during this time dinner was cooking - and final dinner prep was happening.

Diana and Eric joined us for dinner. (Diana and Eric chatting with Karen)

Catalina, Paul and Diana

Amy and Jenny - doing final dinner prep.

The menu:

Herb Roasted Turkey with Apple Cider Gravy

Stuffing - done in a crock pot and it turned out great!

Amy's Famous Garlic Mashed Potatoes

Corn

Mom's Bean Casserole

Sweet Cabbage - a family favorite

Salad - provided by Paul and Catalina

Dessert - Stained Glass Pie - provided by Blake and Karen
